International Future Laboratory for AI-supported Bioprocess Development

Subproject: Cross-lab machine learning and process execution in the life science sector by connecting the Robotic Screening Laboratory of the University of Greifswald with the Robotic Biotechnology Laboratory of the TU-Berlin.

Scientists from the fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning, bioprocess engineering and protein engineering work very closely together to achieve the following goals, among others:

  • the establishment of machine learning and AI in biotechnology and life science applications
  • the specification of data storage standards and data transfer standards for complex automation and machine learning applications
  • testing these standards, data exchange and machine learning feedback on real robotic platforms
  • autonomous, machine-controlled experiments

The KIWI-biolab project is funded with approximately 5 million euros by the Federal Ministry of Research and Science.
