Prof. Dr. van der Linden uses machine learning methods to analyse multi- and hyperspectral satellite images. Time series of this image data are used to describe land surface processes that allow conclusions about the influence of climate change on agricultural or vegetation surfaces such as forests and moors. He is head of the working group remote sensing and geoinformation processing at the Institute of Geography and Geology at the University of Greifswald.
