Regionale Regierungsvertreter bei HEALTH. AI Pomerania

What impact does AI have on medicine in the border region? To explore this question, the HEALTH.AI Pomerania project welcomed a delegation of regional government representatives at the West Pomeranian Oncology Centre (ZCO) on 7 August 2025: Heiko Miraß (Parliamentary State Secretary for Western Pomerania and Eastern Mecklenburg), Norbert Obrycki (Representative of the Marshal of West Pomerania for International Cooperation), and Volker-Gerd Westphal (State Secretary in the Brandenburg Ministry for Europe and Finance). The delegation was accompanied by representatives of the authorities responsible for cross-border cooperation in the Euroregion Pomerania.

The HEALTH.AI Pomerania project was represented by ZCO project staff and representatives of the lead partner, the University of Greifswald. The head of ZCO, Adrian Sikorski, underlined the institution’s importance for regional healthcare provision. Mariusz Holicki, head of the Department of Diagnostic Imaging and Nuclear Medicine at ZCO, presented the work of his department and the new challenges ahead. The Greifswald project team, Dr. Linus Großmann and Lydia Neubauer, presented results of their innovation study on AI-assisted diagnosis of digestive disorders. In the subsequent discussion, project manager Zuzanna Papierz outlined the current status of project activities and the upcoming steps for all three project partners.

During the concluding visit to the radiology department, department coordinator Grzegorz Machalski demonstrated the AI software for prostate diagnostics acquired through the project. The guests engaged in a lively discussion with the project team about the benefits that cooperation on AI in medicine creates for the entire Euroregion. The shared conclusion: to sustainably secure and improve the quality of treatment in the Euroregion Pomerania, cross-border resource and knowledge sharing supported by AI is indispensable in the field of medicine.
