The HEALTH.AI Pomerania project aims to establish artificial intelligence in the Pomerania Euroregion as a forward-looking tool for improving healthcare. To this end, the medical project partners from Eberswalde, Greifswald and Szczecin are conducting practical trials of AI solutions on both sides of the German-Polish border. Based on their experiences, guidelines for the use of AI are being developed, which can be utilised by other hospitals and medical institutions. The University of Greifswald is leading the project and is also responsible for providing the scientific expertise required to assess the legal and health economic framework conditions for the application of AI in everyday medical practice.

The HEALTH.AI Pomerania consortium comprises four institutions. The University of Greifswald acts as the lead partner in the project. It forms the scientific backbone of the consortium and brings the participating hospitals together on an equal footing. The project also brings together three medical institutions with deliberately different profiles: the research-intensive University Medical Centre Greifswald (as an associated partner), the highly specialised West Pomeranian Oncology Centre in Szczecin, and the GLG Werner Forßmann Clinic in Eberswalde, which serves the rural north-east of Brandenburg. This diversity is key – because AI in medicine must work not only in centres of excellence, but also in regional healthcare provision. In this way, the consortium ensures that the solutions developed can be tested under real-world, highly varied conditions across the Euroregion Pomerania.

HEALTH.AI Pomerania is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union under the Interreg VI A Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania I Brandenburg I Poland 2021 – 2027 programme.
