Capture More, Do Less: How AI is Transforming Cardiac MRI Scanning and Analysis
Dr. Theodora Chitiboi
Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) plays a crucial role in cardiovascular diagnostics, but performing these exams is a complex task and requires highly trained technologists. Quantitative analysis is also labor-intensive, often depending on specialized software. By applying artificial intelligence (AI) to automate imaging protocols and workflows, the process becomes more standardized, exam complexity and operator reliance are reduced, and both efficiency and image quality can potentially be improved. AI-driven quantification algorithms can deliver essential information on cardiac function, strain, and tissue characteristics inline, directly during image acquisition, without the need for manual intervention.
