Designing Enzymes in silico and Through Machine Learning Tools
Uwe T. Bornscheuer
This lecture will cover achievements in the protein engineering of enzymes using bioinformatic tools ranging from in silico design to recent examples where methods of machine learning were used to improve biocatalysts. This will include structure prediction tools like AlphaFold as well as computational protein design using Rosetta and more recently developed tools. Further examples will cover the machine-learning guided improvement of transaminases the asymmetric synthesis of chiral amines to make building blocks for pharmaceuticals.
