Dr. Mario Trouillier uses machine learning like boosted regression trees or deep neural networks for the analysis of tree growth. Many environmental and endogenous variables affect tree growth and machine learning can help to understand these complex relationships. Furthermore, Mario is interested in the combination of agent based models and artificial neural networks. Currently, he is Postdoc in the DIG-IT! project in the working group for Landscape Ecology and Ecosystem Dynamics.
